Abstract Ideas: Notes to self
June 2026
1. Change has a high inertia. Especially in emotional situations, it mimics an identity crash. Hence, forgiveness is a precursor to change and acceptance of one's mistakes.
2. Happiness seems to have a high correlation with creation, and fairly low with consumption.
3. We are going to die, please try not to forget it, Rajat. Please.
4. Intuition is refined pattern recognition, and a function of experience, it is important to follow it with sincerity and break it only for exceptions like startup, human-connection and curious stupidity [ eg: Physics does not scale well at singularities, but on an ordinary day it is still wise to trust gravity. ]
5. Time seems to go really fast, the only feasible way to slow it down is to be honest with the present.
6. One way to validate you are going in the right direction is to assume you will probably die in the next 10 years. Every 10 years it should become less scary to think about. [It's a perfect timeframe for both short and long meaningful pursuits, inducing focused urgency.]
7. Identity dissociation from people and dreams is the only reasonable way to become okay with losing. Association with excellence of process, though, is a necessary condition to give yourself a fair chance.
8. In any human relationship, try to be kind to others and to yourself. It must not be forgotten that we are all human, susceptible to mistakes and that includes you too.
9. Lets not try to impress people, I see the urge, but can we be more on the curious and interested side? I think it is enough, you don't have to twist yourself for the joke to land. (Okay, for the joke, maybe commit to the art.)
10. Call mom.
